Nature

Buñol is endowed with many natural parks. Water and more than twenty fountains adorn the landscapes, gardens and squares.

Culture

Culture and music are clear signs of identification of Buñol. The musical bands, the Sociedad Musical La Artística and the Centro Instructivo Musical La Armónica. Both bands star in the famous Mano a Mano, a concert of regional tourist interest.

An illustrious man, Máximo Huerta, has endowed the centre of the village with a charming bookshop: La Librería de Doña Leo (Doña Leo’s Bookshop).

La Tomatina is a festival of International Tourist Interest which is always held on the last Wednesday of August, during the week of fiestas in Buñol, and consists of participants throwing tomatoes at each other.

Buñol Castle

Buñol Castle, built between the 11th and 12th centuries, is one of the best-preserved castles in the Valencian Community, and is notable for having inhabited dwellings inside. From its entrance in the central tower, you can access the Plaza de Armas, surrounded by dwellings between two side towers. A bridge with panoramic views leads to the lower enclosure, where you will find the Torre Mayor, museums, an old church and a charming neighbourhood with narrow streets that have inspired renowned painters such as Sorolla. A true historical treasure in full splendour.

Music Auditorium

The Auditorium has a capacity for approximately 2,500 people at the foot of the cut rock. It is a spectacular sight at night, as it is in the open air and is encased by the cut rock, which facilitates its acoustics, and the music can be heard in a privileged setting.

The Turche Cave

Its lake and waterfall that cascades from the top of the rock wall offers a comforting natural spectacle. It is a geological site of great beauty and scenic strength formed by a lake framed by a large rock amphitheatre.

San Luis Park

The San Luís’ Walk is an urban park located at the western end of the municipality between the Cuco road and viewpoint and the Buñol river. It is the venue for a multitude of cultural, social and recreational events and activities. On a leisurely and refreshing stroll through the park we can see the neo-Gothic style Chapel of San Luís Beltrán, remodelled in 1896, next to which we can admire the spring waters, very close to the fountain of San Luís, with 4 generous spouts of water flowing from the limestone tuff wall.

La Tomatina

La Tomatina de Buñol, held every last Wednesday in August, was born in 1945 as an improvised tomato battle during a local parade. Although it was initially banned, the people’s insistence managed to turn it into an official tradition.

Today, it attracts thousands of people from all over the world, making it a unique event full of fun and adrenaline. Recognised in 2002 as a Fiesta of International Tourist Interest, La Tomatina is a symbol of joy and tradition that puts Buñol in the spotlight of global celebrations. Don’t miss it!
